What Is STEM?
STEM is the study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. It allows the understanding of new concepts through engaging hands on experiences that promote the curiosity and creative thinking of our students at Hebersham Public School.
Research has indicated that by age seven students have made their own opinion of science and whether they like it. As a result of this research, our school has highlighted the importance of STEM by incorporating a more hands on approach to teaching Integrated Studies which has been enjoyed by the students.
We hope your children will come home with exciting explanations of the activities and experiments they are completing and share their educational journey.
Sydney University STEM Teacher Enrichment Academy
Hebersham Public School is proud to be involved in a partnership with Sydney University through their STEM Teacher Enrichment Academy. The Academy aims to provide teachers with knowledge, skills, resources and support to make real change in their classroom teaching. It inspires teachers to pursue their interests in Science, Mathematics and Information Technology, and to pass on that inspiration to their students.
Through this program we aim to motivate our young students to choose Science and Mathematics subjects at school, then to pursue further study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. With the ultimate goal of providing more opportunities to select STEM career pathways.
