The Stephanie Alexander kitchen garden has given students many opportunities to create delicious wholesome recipes that encouraged them to try some new and exciting foods. This year Stage 2 students have cooked a variety of recipes such as potato gnocchi, Chinese pancakes, eggplant pasta and zucchini pizza. The Stage 2 students spend 1 and half hours per week cooking in the kitchen. This involves: 10 to 15 minutes discussing the recipes and any substitutions that may need to occur, 45 minutes of preparation and cooking time and 30 minutes to eat and clean up. Students get to practise a variety of skills including peeling, dicing, grating, measuring and stirring and this is important to ensure that their recipes come together successfully.
